Kate says “Training via the AO route gave me the freedom to choose and hone my own teaching style. I developed good working relationships with my students and enjoyed the challenge that came with the responsibility of having my own class. Winston Churchill provided the support and guidance I needed to get the most out of my training, and I enjoyed becoming part of the team.”

Jess says “'I started working at The Winston Churchill School as an English tutor, which I loved as I learnt the curriculum, learnt the Winston way of teaching and built relationships with children. When the opportunity came to train here, I jumped at the chance! It is such a supportive environment; I learn something new every day and I feel lucky to work in a place that develops autonomy in children and allows staff the freedom to encourage that in their classroom.

Dan says “This route really worked for me! Owning my own lessons and classes, it allowed me to take control of a classroom from Day 1 and to learn and develop my practise while on the job. Embedded in the department I was supported by more than just my mentor and I'm in no doubt that I wouldn't have the career progression I have now if I had taken another route.”

And our newest recruit, Matt, says “As Music Tutor the past year, I have had a great experience of observing being part of an active music department including extracurricular activities and observing lessons and have really enjoyed my year. The AO route will provide me with first-hand experience of teaching in a classroom whilst developing and learning the skills that I have already gained, in a supportive and encouraging department."
